In the config.xml file, there are two new settings added to provide possible database
performance improvement by tuning SQLite's memory usage. "" is
the number of bytes which can be any power of two between 512 and 32768 (512,1024,
2048, 4096, 8192, 16384, or 32768). "" is the number of pages
to hold in memory and can be from 1000 to 8000. Default values are 4096 for the page
size and 2000 for the cache size. The page size and cache size settings go into effect
after creating a new Outlook profile or after doing a database compact.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 if you have more than one add-ins.
7. Quit Registry Editor.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

o To enable message cancellation during download on Vista and up, if User Account Control (UAC) is ON:
Right click on Outlook.exe (or shortcut), click "Properties", click "Compatibility"
and check "Run this program as an administrator" under "Privilege Level" section.
Click "OK" to accept changes.
Note: To make the changes above a user must be a local administrator.
MAJOR NEW FEATURES
------------------
o [5266] Add database management feature (compact database and purge message body).
The Database Management feature is located in the Outlook Connector account
configurations. The settings are located in the "Database Management" tab.
There are two new features: Compact Database and Purge Database. Compact
Database will compact and defrag the database file, LocalCache.db. If you
enable "Compact database on Outlook shutdown", you will get a dialog box popup
after shutting down Outlook asking you if you want to continue to compact and
purge the database. If you click "Yes", compacting will take place and you
will see a progress dialog box showing the compacting. The Outlook shutdown
must be a clean shutdown for the compact to occur. So, if you "End Task" using
the TaskManager or your Outlook crashes, compact database will not take place on
Outlook shutdown. You also have the option to manually compact your database by
clicking on the "Compact" button. This will only occur if Outlook is shut down.
You will need to do this through the Mail Control Panel. The Purge Database feature
allows you to purge/delete the message body of old messages. You will specify the
age of the message by the "Purge message body of messages older than _____ days
(0=never)" edit box. The message will be purged base on the message modified date.
Only email messages will be purged. Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Journal, and Notes
messages will not be purged. Check "Purge database on Outlook shutdown" if you wish
for the message purging to take place after Outlook shutdown. You also have the option
to do it manually by clicking on the "Purge" button. Outlook must be shut down for
manual purging to take place. You will need to do this through the Mail Control Panel.
If the message body of a message has been purged and you wish to retrieve the message
body of the message again, simple click on the message or open up the message and the
message body will be redownloaded. These two features are meant to help improve Outlook
Connector performance. Please take advantage of the functionalities.

CHANGES AND NEW FEATURES

o Outlook Connector now supports grouping. To enable grouping in Outlook
2003, go to View | Arrange By and check "Show in Groups". In Outlook XP
(2002), go to View | Current View | Customize Current View and click
"Group By...".
o Outlook Connector now features an Out of Office (autoresponder) editor.
Clicking on the new "Out of Office" button on the OC toolbar brings up
a dialog that lets the user enable/disable the responder, set the message
text, and the start and end dates and times.
MDaemon 9.0 or newer is required. The toolbar button will be greyed out
if running an older version of MDaemon, Outlook is offline, or the user
does not have permission to edit the autoresponder (see MDaemon's Account
Editor's Web tab).
o Email sending is now performed in the background. OC saves the message
to the Outbox and sends it from there, after giving control of Outlook
back to the user. If there is an SMTP error while trying to send a
message, OC will generate a non-delivery report in the user's Inbox.
o The dialog that pops up when OC cannot connect to the server is improved.
The message text is more descriptive and users click "Work Offline" to
switch to offline mode rather than "Cancel". When clicking "Retry", OC
no longer prompts the user for their password information.
o Added support for system folder names (Drafts, Calendar, Contacts, etc)
being translated in Outlook but in English on the server. This is to
prevent duplicate folders when WorldClient is using English folder names
on the server. This is enabled by default for languages that do not have
a localized MDaemon (Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish). To
enable it for another language, after creating the OC account, but before
starting Outlook with it, edit the account's "config.xml" and change
"" from 0 to 1.
o Outlook Connector honors Outlook's "Send immediately..." option to
control whether sent messages go out immediately or if they stay in the
Outbox until the next Send/Receive.
o An "Apply permissions to all subfolders" option has been added to the
Permissions dialog.
o Outlook Connector's "Power User" permission no longer includes Create
permission, to prevent such users from renaming shared folders.
o The GUI for changing the local cache storage location has been updated

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

o Outlook Connector 2.0 requires MDaemon 8.0 or newer.
o In order to install Outlook Connector on the server, the MDaemon
GroupWare Enabler must first be uninstalled. MDaemon GroupWare clients
will continue to function as usual after Outlook Connector is installed
on the server.
o To begin using Outlook Connector your users must have the Outlook
Connector plugin software installed and a new Outlook profile created
with an Outlook Connector account.
The plugin installer has been placed here on the MDaemon server:
\MDaemon\WorldClient\Html\OutlookPluginInstall.exe
Your users can also download and install this file from within
WorldClient by navigating to their WorldClient Options page. A
link to this installer will be available.
Creating a new profile and Outlook Connector account depends on the
version of Outlook being used:
For Outlook 2000, first be sure you are in Corporate/Workgroup mode.
This is configured within Outlook itself under Tools | Options | Mail
Services > Reconfigure Mail Support. Set up a new profile by going to
the Control Panel | Mail dialog. Click Show Profiles ... then Add... On
the first dialog that opens select "Outlook Connector for MDaemon" and
click Next. The Outlook Connector configuration dialog will appear,
populate as needed with your MDaemon account information. Next click
Add... again and select "Outlook Address Book" then OK. Be sure to set
the "Show profiles" dialog to use the appropriate profile - it does not
use the new one unless you tell it to.
For Outlook 2002 or 2003, go to Control Panel | Mail, and click Show
Profiles. Click Add.., and give the profile a name. Next select "Add a
new email account" and click Next. Select "Additional server types" and
Next. Select "Outlook Connector for MDaemon" on the next screen and
click Next. The configuration options for your OC account will open -
populate as needed and click OK. Be sure to set the "show profiles"
dialog to use the appropriate profile (or at least prompt for profile
when Outlook starts) - it does not use the new one unless you tell it to.
Once the Outlook Connector account is up and running, the user's folders
will be downloaded from the server into Outlook as each one is opened.
IMAP users will be able to access their mail since it's stored on the
server, but POP3 mail likely only exists in the user's old Outlook PST
file. You may want to add the PST to the profile or import the mail
folders from the PST.
If Outlook Connector is uninstalled, reconfigure Outlook to use a profile
that does not include an Outlook Connector account.
MAJOR NEW FEATURES

o Mail folder support. Mail folders can now be shared without needing to
use an Outlook IMAP account. Permissions can be configured for the mail
folders.
o Single Outlook folder hierarchy. With an Outlook Connector account,
users do not need two sets of folders, one for their shared GroupWare
folders and one for their IMAP email folders. Users will have only one
Inbox, and sent messages will be saved in their IMAP Sent Items folder.
o Better Outlook integration. Users do not need to synchronize after
changing something in Outlook before it's available to other users.
